Haryana Police recovers Rs 71 Lakh in cyber fraud case, urges vigilance against cyber crime

Haryana Polices efforts to bolster cybersecurity have yielded significant results, with the recovery of Rs 71 lakh in a recent cyber fraud case, an official spokesperson said on Monday, adding that through proactive measures and public awareness campaigns via social media platforms, the force aims to prevent individuals from falling prey to cyber criminals. The spokesperson said that the incident unfolded in Gurugram, where a resident filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime East Police Station on February 16, 2024. The victim narrated being duped into investing in the stock market through a fraudulent app promising lucrative returns. Prompt action was taken by the Cyber Crime East Gurugram police station, resulting in the arrest of three suspects from Jaipur on March 22. The apprehended individuals were identified as Makwana Harshad Ramesh Bhai, Nikunj Mansukh Bhai Chauhan, and Khan Zuber Jamshed, all residents of Gujarat.Led by Assistant Police Commissioner Cyber Crime, Priyanshu Dewan, the investigative team recovered approximately Rs 71 lakh defrauded from the complainant. While the investigation remains ongoing, the swift action and dedication of the Cyber Crime Police Station East Gurugram have been lauded by the victim, the spokesperson added.  The spokesperson said that Citizens are urged to refrain from clicking on suspicious links, downloading unfamiliar mobile apps, or sharing personal banking information or OTPs.
